How a Full System Migration Boosted Efficiency at One Fiscal Sponsor

The Challenge 

A fiscal sponsor organization was relying on Microsoft 365 as their primary email and calendar solution and hosted all its data in a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environment. While this approach was intended to simplify IT management, the dated system’s performance was holding the organization back.

Complicating things, every employee had their own drive for file storage, and each routinely experienced login issues. These widespread technical issues fueled frustration and inefficiencies throughout the organization, which inhibited the nonprofit’s ability to deliver impactful work in the climate space. 

They contacted Personified to complete a system migration that would streamline operations and empower the organization to fulfill its mission.

The Solution

We planned and executed a successful IT modernization initiative from Microsoft 365 to Google Workspace that included the following elements:

• Migrated file servers and user data out of the VDI environment into Google Drive, mirroring permissions while adding additional security safeguards.
• Migrated individual email, calendar, and distributions lists out of Microsoft 365 and into Google Workspace.
• Modernized the fiscal sponsor organization’s technology and security programs with new cybersecurity initiatives.
• Executed audits and remediations of the organization’s systems and conducted security training for all staff.

The Results

Personified now manages tech support and administration for the nonprofit organization as well as their fiscally sponsored projects on an ongoing basis. All staff now work in a single system for email, file management, and calendar management, and the whole organization functions at a higher level with a centralized, modern infrastructure that boosts productivity and efficiency for every employee.
